In this picture are a gaggle of Thirties and Forties supporting Hollywood actors. At the rear between Frank Sully and Dorris Bowdon is trilby-hatted Eddie Quillan.
Frank Sully is sitting next to him in this scene from The Grapes Of Wrath. Jane Darwell leans ponderously against the truck. Henry Fonda and John Carradine speak for themselves but leaning over Fonda's shoulder are Russell Simpson (left) and Charley Grapewin.
Grapewin was born in Ohio and ran away as a boy to become a circus acrobat. He later became a Broadway star. He went to Hollywood in 1930 to retire to play golf but promptly wrote three novels and appeared in 25 films.
