There is more to unicycling than circus tricks, according to the unicycling.com web site.

Fans should pedal over to the section outlining things not to do on one wheel. These range from pedalling down sand dunes to riding one-handed on a trampoline. A particular favourite is trying to stop a car with a unicycle on snow.

The garage page has details of almost every kind of unicycle.

It explains the difference between the different types of unicycles. A giraffe unicycle is one with a chain or where the crank arms are not attached directly to the axle.

A kangaroo unicycle has both crank arms facing in the same direction so when it is ridden it looks like a kangaroo or rabbit in action.

There is a section on mountain unicycling (MUni), also known as rough terrain unicycling, all-terrain unicycling and unicycle moto-cross.

The site says MUni has caused a revolution in the unicycling community, sparking an effort to build better, stronger unicycles. Some of this new technology will spread to other types of unicycles.

If you're one wheel short of a bicycle, or enjoy balancing things out, this is a site worth sitting on.

Just be careful.
