Detectives are investigating allegations that the blaze, which gutted the house at Sandgate Close, Seaford, was started by arsonists.
The family managed to escape but the dog was trapped by smoke and later found dead at the scene.
Firefighters were called after neighbours raised the alarm on Friday evening.
