Paul Brooker is poised to give Albion another boost by pledging his long term future to the club.
The in-form winger has revealed he is in new contract talks with the Seagulls.
Brooker said: "I've got a year left and I am in discussions now with the chairman and my agent about extending it.
"Hopefully it can get resolved as quickly as possible."
Brooker's desire to stay is another lift for Albion ahead of Saturday's Division One opener at Burnley.
A number of the existing squad, including influential figures such as goalkeeper Michel Kuipers and midfielder Richard Carpenter, have already signed new contracts.
Brooker has been in sparkling form during the pre-season programme and he is also expected to play a key role in Albion's bid for First Division survival.
"I have been happy with the way I have been playing in the last couple of games," said the former Fulham wide man.
"The gaffer (Martin Hinshelwood) has given me a bit more confidence. I have just been running at defenders from the word go and it's paying off.
"I feel really good, really fresh, and I cannot wait for the season to start.
"He knows my strengths and weaknesses. I am not going to go in for bone crushing challenges or win loads of headers, but he knows I can get at players and get crosses in.
"As long as I can keep doing that to a high standard I am sure we will have a good season."
Brooker will make his Division One debut at Turf Moor on Saturday, having previously only made it on to the bench with Fulham.
"I don't know if Division One will help me," he said. "It's going to be pretty hard. There are some massive teams in there.
"We will give it one hundred per cent every game, but we know in our own minds we have got a very hard year in front of us.
"If we do the things the gaffer wants us to then we have got a good chance of staying up, which is really our main objective."
Bradley Allen is trying his luck at Peterborough after an unsuccessful trial with Albion.
Allen is currently out-of-contract with Grimsby Town.
Swindon have put former England international defender Neil Ruddock on the transfer list for financial reasons. Ruddock was linked with the Albion manager's post in the summer.
