Brighton-Bedford rail services across London were today back to normal after they were disrupted due to flooding.
Thameslink services were severely curtailed yesterday when tunnels around King's Cross flooded during Wednesday night's stormy weather.
The water made the central London tunnels which the Thameslink services use impassable and the company was forced to put an emergency timetable into operation.
But a spokesman said work carried out through the night to clear the tunnels meant the rail timetables were back to normal today.
Some trains will be running shorter than usual while safety checks are carried out.
The spokesman said: "Thameslink Rail can confirm that its cross-London service has been reinstated following the reopening of the track in the Farringdon area during the night.
"Severe flooding from Wednesday night's sudden storms closed the tunnel throughout Thursday night whilst remedial work was carried out.
"The reopening means full services between Bedford and Brighton and Luton and Sutton through central London this morning."
