Sussex coach Peter Moores today committed his long-term future to the county.
Moores, subject of speculation linking him to a similar role at Warwickshire earlier this season, is poised to sign a contract which will keep him at the club until 2006.
The new four-year deal replaces the two-year contract he agreed at the end of last season.
Moores, who became Sussex coach in 1998 after playing for the county for 14 years, has guided Sussex to two titles and led the England A tour of West Indies in 2001.
When Bob Woolmer indicated to Warwickshire that he would be leaving Edgbaston at the end of the season, Moores was one of the names discussed by their cricket committee as a possible replacement and Sussex have acted quickly to secure the services of one of the most highly regarded young coaches in the country.
He said: "Since I became coach I think the team and the club as a whole have made great strides and this gives me the platform to take us to the next level.
"The Warwickshire interest was very flattering, but having been at Sussex for so long there is a lot of loyalty involved and I'm looking forward to the challenge of trying to get us to the very top."
