As a participant in the march on the RSPCA (The Argus, August 8), I have a couple of comments.

Firstly, the number of people was closer to 1,000. The Telegraph estimated more than 600.

This was the biggest demonstration ever against the RSPCA's standpoint on hunting with dogs.

Secondly, many thanks to the charitable residents of Southwater who, on our return journey to our cars, provided buckets of water for the dogs.

Although plenty of water was available at our parking place, it was a hot day and their thoughtfulness was in marked contrast to that of the RSPCA headquarters where no water was on offer and the staff simply gazed at us from their £16 million air-conditioned offices.
