One of Budapest's first gigs was attended by Steve Lamacq, Feeder and Ocean Colour Scene.
Their debut album was put together by producer Dave Creffield, who worked on Embrace's debut album, and engineer Markus Dravs, who worked with Bjork.
What materialised was Too Blind To Hear, which blends the band's love for classic English songwriting with contemporary, melancholy soundscapes.
The influences of Talk Talk, REM and Radiohead are at the heart of each song and the sound is intense and fresh.
Unfortunately, the emotional toll of the recording process and the dark undercurrents of the album left a mark on the band.
Guitarist Mark Walworth committed suicide during the final mastering of the album.
Mat Parker, a friend of the band and a talented songwriter, took over on lead guitar and long-time live keyboardist Chris Pemberton joined full-time to complete the line-up.
The album is out soon and Radio 1 has already played the sublime Is This The Best It Gets.
Support comes from Felix and The Palm Sugars. Doors open 8pm. Tickets cost £5.
