Men who put their lives on the line during the Suez Canal crisis are among society's unsung heroes.
Whereas servicemen in the Lebanon, the Gulf and Falklands Wars have been awarded service medals for risking their lives, the soldiers involved in the conflict with Egypt received nothing of the sort.
They didn't go into battle to have their bravery recognised but, all the same, many feel they have been ignored by the powers that be.
Bob Truelove, a veteran from Brighton, spent three years of his life involved in the Suez conflict. One of his friends was blinded after acid was thrown in his face and another was shot in the back.
They are horrifying images he will never forget but it seems history already has. After a battle bravely borne, Mr Truelove and his comrades have found themselves in the middle of another - a call for medals.
These men looked death in the face for the sake of their country. The least they deserve is to be remembered.
