Burgess Hill began their defence of the County League title with a convincing 4-0 win over ten-man Redhill.
Despite missing five key players, Hillians totally outclassed a Redhill side who have begun the season with two defeats under new manager, former QPR and Millwall fullback Ian Dawes.
Danny Bloor's team were put through their paces by Horsham YMCA in the Norman Wingate Trophy last Saturday but this was a somewhat easier affair against a Redhill side who were reduced to ten men just before half time.
Bloor said: "I am very satisfied especially considering I had Steve Harper, Richard Carter, Adie Downey, Lee Isaac and Ashley Carr missing.
"I am satisfied with four goals and I am pleased to keep a clean sheet. We won the league last season on the basis of keeping it tight at the back and that is what we need to do again."
Summer signing Sean Randell bagged his first goal for the Hillians to give them a half time lead. Phil Churchill doubled the advantage with a 54th minute penalty after Leo Day had been pulled down and skipper Sean Edwards scored a rocket of a third. Youngster Tom Levitt wrapped up victory a minute from time.
