I have followed the correspondence on the Spirit Of The Horse show with interest.
I did not visit the show so cannot comment one way or another on the condition of the animals, although, presumably, if there was any cause for concern the RSPCA would have taken steps to rectify the situation.
In an ideal world, perhaps the lifestyle led by these horses is not as near to nature as would be wished.
However, I hope none of the writers of letters complaining about this has a rabbit or guinea pig incarcerated in a hutch, a hamster in a cage or, worst of all, fish in a tank or pond since these conditions are far worse than anything being experienced by these horses.
Fish should have the whole sea or river to swim in, not a grotty little tank. Rabbits should have fields of grass and lettuce, not a hutch. Hamsters should be roaming the vast expanses of deserts.
And how about the dreadful little tanks snakes and lizards are kept in? Why does no one seem to care about this?
