Early last Saturday evening, I took the No 5B bus from Preston Park to Hangleton.
What should have been a pleasant journey was spoiled by a bunch of loud-mouthed yobs who sat at the back of the upper deck and stunned the rest of the passengers into miserable silence by their bad language and ignorant behaviour.
The driver came up once to tell them off for opening the emergency exit and point out they were on CCTV.
The journey was further enhanced by a young Spaniard who was sorting out his love-life in loud Spanish on his mobile phone.
When all the noisy people got off, I realised there was a thin stream of ambient music coming from the bus's speakers.
Perhaps the bus operators would consider using the therapeutic properties of music to calm bad behaviour or, if that doesn't work - at the driver's discretion - to drown out the noise makers?
