As a committed cyclist, I agree with Joyce D Wise (Letters, August 16) about cyclists paying road tax and displaying a number plate.
This would at least give us more legitimacy in the eyes of the law and other road users. The tax, if earmarked, could then be used to improve facilities for cyclists.
For ease of collection, the tax would be levied only when a bike's ownership is transferred (for example, when new).
