When you wish upon a star your dreams come true, according to the old Disney theme tune.

Eight-year-old Jordan Powell made a wish for a holiday at the Magic Kingdom of Disneyworld in Florida.

And generous readers of The Argus made that come true, after recognising Jordan as a real star.

For the past two years the schoolboy has been courageously battling an inoperable brain tumour.

After Jordan's story was featured in The Argus, readers have donated almost £1,400 towards his trip.

The money means Jordan will be able to meet his cartoon heroes such as Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck.

He may be slowly losing his sight and mobility because of the cruel tumour but among the many children visiting Disneyworld this year, few will be as thrilled - or deserving - as Jordan.

An Elvis Presley impersonator and a Marilyn Monroe lookalike will be among the guests at a fund-raising concert in October, to boost Jordan's Mickey Mouse Appeal further.

Elvis, Marilyn and Mickey - Jordan will certainly be moving in exalted company. He has already shown he has true star quality.
