Police are still trying to establish the identity of a pedestrian killed in a collision with a car.
The 58-year-old victim was killed on Saturday when he was hit by a Nissan on the A265 between Etchingham and Burwash.
He was taken to the Conquest Hospital in Hastings but his injuries were too severe.
Despite efforts to trace the man's family, the search for his next of kin has proved fruitless.
He was believed to have lived in a hostel in London and is described as white, of medium build, 5ft 8in, tall, with short, grey hair. He also wore dark clothing and carried a square shopping bag.
The driver of the Nissan, a 43-year-old man from Haywards Heath and his 11-year-old-son, a passenger in the car, escaped serious injury.
The incident took place at 9.30pm and the road, known locally as the Straight Mile, was closed for four-and-a-half hours.
Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the man prior to the collision or anyone who saw the incident.
Anyone with information should call Bexhill traffic police on 01424 456085.
