Regarding the quote from a West Sussex County Council spokeswoman about the Halewick Lane tip (July 14), the truth is that residents were not consulted before this planning application was submitted.
A meeting was convened after the plans had been submitted which was, according to the council, to explain the application.
This meeting comes too late for residents to submit their ideas for inclusion in the planning application.
It just goes to prove the council still has its "we'll do what we like and sod the rest" attitude, despite being told by the inspector at the public inquiry that resident involvement was essential in any future decisions over the site.
It is no wonder residents find it hard to believe the council wants to honour its obligations and shut the site.
