Findon are on the verge of an unprecedented seventh title in Invitation division one.
A draw in their penultimate match at home to Lindfield will be enough to secure the championship.
Goring won the league six times between 1984 and 1993 but Findon are poised to go one better.
Opener Toby Kingsbury said: "It would be nice to win it again. The players are always up for it and are hungry for success.
"We have got used to winning and don't like losing. Our large squad of talented players has helped enourmously. Everyone has played well at some stage during the season. At the moment John Cox has hit form."
The champion's latest victims were Burgess Hill, who batted first and made 135-8. Kingsbury and Mark Stewart took two wickets apiece and Nick Hawke grabbed three.
Findon reached 139-3 in reply, with Cox 52 not out and Paul O'Sullivan 42.
Arundel are second following their victory at home to Southwick.
The hosts batted first and made 201-6, Joel Wiles top scored with 49. In reply Southwick were dismissed for 104 as Neil Chitty claimed 7-46.
Chitty said: "It was a pretty sound batting performance and we broke 200 in the last over. Whether we stay second is out of our hands, we'll just try and win our remaining match."
Clymping are finally showing the form which made them an outside tip for the title earlier this year.
Benn Challen's side are fourth behind Pagham after convincingly beating the visitors.
Clymping batted first and made 248-5 thanks to Challen's (91) best knock of the season . Gary Tester (67 not out) and Michael Blackall (62 not out) also made telling contributions.
In reply, Pagham were all out for 122 despite the efforts of Phil Harris (46) and Craig Primmer, Adam Tester took 6-41. Defeat means Pagham slip a place to third.
Primmer, who scored 51 and took 3-78, is resigned to missing out on the title and admits it will be tough to even finish second.
He said: "Clymping are a good side and the lads didn't react to it. We will all be disappointed if we don't sort our act out and finish with two wins."
Challen, who said his team had applied to join the Sussex League next term, added: "We played well. It was the first time this season I had a full squad to chose from. We just regret our miserable form in June when we only took 12 points from four games."
Lindfield remain fifth after beating Ifield in their mid-table clash. They batted first and made 175-6 before dismissing Ifield for 138, with Neil Redley returning 5-43.
