The Air Training Corps (ATC) was formed by Royal Warrant in 1941 and sprang from the Air Defence Cadet Corps.

It has almost 49,000 members aged from 13 to 22 in more than 1,000 squadrons across the world.

The 176 (Hove) Squadron provides activities for boys and girls interested in flying, gliding and the Royal Air Force.

There has been a squadron in Hove for more than 50 years. The 176 meets on Mondays and Thursdays from 7.20pm to 9.40pm at the headquarters on Nevill playing fields.

It provides a variety of activities, from aircraft modelling and learning how aircraft fly to shooting, fieldcraft and adventure training.

At the weekends, there are opportunities to go flying, gliding and camping.

There are plenty of opportunities to play football, rugby, netball, hockey, athletics, swimming and more, all of which are on offer up to national level within the ATC.

The squadron always has room for more members. For details or to arrange a visit, call 01273 500176.
