A group of retired policemen have set-up a web site to help victims of crime trace stolen cars, jewellery and mobile phones.
Members of the public can report lost, stolen and recovered property on the site, which features 27,000 locations across England, Scotland and Wales.
Site founder Dave Sykes, from Chesham, Buckinghamshire, said: "Each of the 43 police forces are only concerned with what is going on in their patch.
"Every village, town and city in the country is registered on the site. You can look at what's going on anywhere from Edinburgh to Liverpool."
The group was planning to extend the site to include a bulletin board where photographs of suspects could be posted.
