I strongly support the call by the Albion Supporters' Club to boycott this weekend's game against Wimbledon (or Franchise) FC over the proposed move to Milton Keynes.
The club is being ripped out of its south London heartland and moved 70 miles to Buckinghamshire - roughly the equivalent of moving the Albion to Chelmsford.
The whole concept of franchising is not only alien to British football but breaks the link between the locality and the club.
I supported Wimbledon because I grew up there, the same reason most fans support smaller teams.
I appreciate some people might regard this as a plumb away fixture, easily accessible to the South Coast.
But see it another way - you have 45 league matches to show your support for the Albion but just one to oppose football franchising.
Please don't give up your money to a group of directors who have shamelessly destroyed my former club.
For those who want to see the real Wimbledon play, on the same Saturday as the Brighton match, newly formed AFC Wimbledon meet Cove in the Combined Counties League at Kingsmeadow.
This will be the first time we will have had a home game on the same day as Franchise FC and it would be a wonderful demonstration of supporter power if more people came than went to Selhurst Park.
I look forward to meeting Albion fans there. Further details about the match can be found at the AFC Wimbledon web site, afcwimbledon.co.uk
