Vandals held a metal pole and traffic cone out of a moving car to smash wing mirrors off more than 80 vehicles in Eastbourne.
Police revealed the yobs wreaked havoc in an early-morning spree across the town, causing damage totalling £10,000.
So far about 30 offences have been reported to police but officers are convinced more reports of mirror damage will surface within the next few days.
Four people inside a Ford Sierra were seen causing damage between 3am and 6am on Sunday in Seaside, Langney, Hampden Park, Meads, Old Town and the town centre.
A force spokesman said: "It's possible some people have not yet reported such crimes, believing the damage caused was not serious enough to involve the police.
"Even now, some days later, we are still receiving reports from the public and we believe about a third of all incidents have so far been reported.
"We would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious, including a Ford Sierra or who suffered smashed wing mirrors overnight on August 17 to 18 to call us as soon as possible."
Three men in their 20s have been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
Anyone who has information should contact the Seaford Incident Management Centre on 0845 6070999 or Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555111.
