A 16-year-old boy was left with a bleeding nose when two men attacked him for refusing to give them money.
The victim suffered a nosebleed, cut eye and swollen face following the incident in Hailsham High Street.
Both attackers fled towards the churchyard following the attack, at 6.20pm on Monday, leaving the youngster covered in blood.
One of the offenders was white, aged about 16, 5ft 11in, of medium build, wearing a white baseball cap and blue jogging bottoms.
The second was also white, with short brown hair, 5ft 9in, of slim build, wearing white trousers tucked into his socks.
