According to Brighton and Hove City Council's published survey results, 80 per cent of local people were in favour of development of the King Alfred centre (The Argus, August 15).
This is utter rubbish. One resident in 16 was given the opportunity to vote, which equates to only six per cent of the local population. The survey claims 80 per cent were in favour of development.
This really means almost five per cent in favour. What about the remaining 94 per cent of the local population who were not given the opportunity to vote? Is this democratic?
If this development goes ahead, the seafront will become a concrete jungle forever with buildings the equivalent of four Sussex Heights, five Embassy Courts or ten Bath Courts.
I urge everyone who is concerned about our seafront to write to the council to stop this madness.
