The French market in George Street, Hove, could be selling cheese and wine for the last time after complaints from traders.
The regular market always attracts hundreds of visitors.
But the event on Saturday, August 31, and Sunday, September 1, might be the last because traders say people aren't spending enough in the shops.
The Hove Business Steering Group organises the market in partnership with the council.
Keith Bryden, chairman of the group, said: "If the majority of traders do not like it, we are not prepared to continue devoting the time and effort involved."
The group is disappointed with the traders' views as feedback from the last market in April showed hundreds of extra shoppers visited the street.
Traders will be asked to give feedback after next week's market.
