So Jerome Robinson has signed for the Bears. I know that is what some of you have been reading at sources other than The Argus and its associated websites this week.

It was certainly news to me. You will know now that we have Errol Seaman on board and that Albert White has gone to France but I can confirm we have not signed Jerome.

He was with us for a while last season and I very nearly took him for the slot which eventually went to Rodger Farrington.

As a result he was listed as a Brighton Bears player ahead of the World Championships but that is as far as it goes.

I might yet take him but we are a long way from that stage yet. For the time being, it is nice to see our name next to a highly-rated Candian international.

Errol is a good signing and I know many of you will be pleased as I am to see him back, especially when he is looking fitter than ever.

What to make of Albert's move to Chalons in the French Pro B? At first glance it is maybe not the high profile move he was talking about. I would fancy our chances against the team he has joined.

However the Pro B pays more money than the BBL and another big consideration is that he is now in mainland Europe and will get noticed a lot more quickly if he performs well. We wish him well.

We too will be going overseas next month as we head for four days in Portugal, which will see us play tournaments in Lisbon and Aveiro.

We had another awesome Saturday afternoon at the beach last weekend when streetball.co.uk beat us in the final of their showcase event. Again, the crowds were massive and offered yet more proof as to the popularity of the game in Brighton.

Ryan Cadogan, the recent Thames Valley signing, played really well for Streetball. They were talented and big and we were kind of small, with the exception of Errol.

We did however win a very exciting dunk contest, thanks to Randy Duck's through the legs left-handed special. No-one could live with that.

Talking of Thames Valley, you might have seen they have just signed a player called Michael Nurse from my home state of Iowa.

I know him, he's tough and he plays good defence, but no, he is not a relative of mine and, no, he doesn't work in a hospital.

Also on the move is former Bears coach Chris Pullem who has quit Leopards. I know a lot of things that are going on in this league but I have no idea who will replace Chris there in Essex. I am fairly confident it will be someone from outside the league. There has been talk about my former assistant Andre Alleyne taking it on. It would be great for him to get back into the league.

I would assume Leopards have already got someone in mind and it just comes down to some sort of protocol as to why they have not announced it yet.

Finally a chance for you to join our team here at the Bears. We are looking for a marketing and administration assistant and details of the post are available from us on (01273) 626943 or brightonbears.com GO BEARS
