Fletching roared back to the top of the East Sussex League after a crushing win over already-relegated Wadhurst.

With captain Glenn Potter abroad on business, acting skipper Grant Horscroft had no hesitation in asking Wadhurst to bat and they were duly dismissed for 123 with Horscroft (3-28), brother Andy (3-18) and Terry Lucas (3-23) doing the damage.

Brough Cooper scored 76 for Wadhurst but the total was never going to be enough and Fletching wrapped up an eight-wicket success thanks to Grant Horscroft (61) and Dave Meacher (40 not out).

With two games to go, Fletching are two points clear of Crowhurst Park, who lost at home to Glynde.

Victor Walcott (83 not out), Michael Legg (45) and skipper Paul Brookes (43) led Park to an imposing total of 275-6. But Glynde were not daunted by the target and clinched victory with three wickets to spare, thanks to Stuart Mouland (94), Daryl Williams (81) and Dale Tranter (23 not out).

Brookes took 4-44 for Park who visit Fletching this weekend in a showdown which will go a long way to determining the destiny of the title.

Victory for Glynde boosted their hopes of avoiding relegation. Newick also won while Heathfield Park moved out of the bottom two after having the better of a draw with Ringmer.

Newick won by eight wickets away to DPB (Eastbourne). The home side's decision to bat first backfired as they were skittled for 88 with Nick Heater (5-29) and Rupert Thacker (4-34) doing the damage.

Sam Carter then hit an unbeaten 43 as Newick knocked off the runs for the loss of two wickets in 19 overs.

Heathfield skipper Ian Cox hit his fourth league century of the season as his side amassed 263-3 declared at Ringmer. Cox hit 135 not out and shared in a unbroken fourth wicket stand of 216 with Scott Pearce (100 not out). The in-form Heathfield captain needs 107 in the last two matches to reach 1,000 league runs for the season.

Ringmer were never really in the hunt despite the efforts of Stuart McConachie (59) and Duncan Pugh (49) but they held on at 172-9 at the close. Simon Briggs (4-25) and Terry Noon (3-32) shared the wickets while Daniel James held an astounding catch to dismiss the dangerous Pugh.

Ditchling are now in the relegation zone after losing by nine wickets at Chiddingly. Replying to 132 all out, John Grieveson (60 not out) and Toby Sawry-Cookson (55 not out) led the home side to a convincing victory.
