Eastbourne Borough super-sub Mark Goodwin scored an injury time goal to secure a 1-1 draw with St Leonards at The Firs in the eastern division clash.

Goodwin, who scored the winner in the Sussex Senior Cup final as a substitute, popped up in the third minute of injury time to secure a point for Borough.

After three wins on the bounce, Borough started brightly and looked good in the first 20 minutes.

However, they could not take advantage of a number of opportunities.

Their best opening came when Matt Smart's clinical through ball found Matt Allen, but the striker's shot hit the outside of the post.

St Leonards slowly came into the game but rarely threatened Dean Lightwood's goal.

However, on 52 minutes the home side took the lead through Mark Lovell. Dave Fisher's back-header sent Lovell through and he calmly slotted past Lightwood.

Borough had the ideal chance to equalise ten minutes later, but Allen somehow missed from six yards from Scott Ramsay's cutback.

Borough started to put some real pressure on the Saints in the last quarter and keeper Peter Newstead had to make good saves from Ramsay and Matt Smart but the keeper could not stop Goodwin's low drive as the game finished all square.
