Seaford is a pleasant, quiet residential resort, generally well-heeled and with little crime or vandalism.
It is easy to forget or dismiss this small town by the sea where not a lot usually happens.
That's why the Seaford Residents' Association exists. It makes councils, health authorities and police aware of local people's real concerns about issues that matter to them.
These range from reinstating headstones flattened by Lewes District Council at the cemetery to opposing an incinerator suggested for neighbouring Newhaven.
The association has two problems. One is that many members, being elderly, die.
The other is newcomers to Seaford don't know about its existence or are not interested. Membership is falling.
Yet this positive and non-political organisation is the voice of Seaford and has a lot of influence.
It's not the noisiest town in Lewes district but it is the largest.
Residents should make sure the association reflects their views.
