Four Sussex clubs compete on the opening day of the British League season this weekend.
The top Horsham team will be striving for promotion to the premier division and be spearheaded by the England No.14 veteran, Peter Bartram, from Worthing.
Bartram's vicious top-spin attack will be supported by two other highly rated veterans, Terry Haley and Ramesh Ballah. Captain Andy Walker (Worthing) occupies the No.3 spot.
Horsham will play against Reading, who are without Uckfield's Nigel Eckersley. He is resting until October with tennis elbow.
The Cippenham club at Slough will host Horsham teams in division 1 (south). Also playing at Cippenham are Hastings in division 2, who will be led by Sussex women's champion Rose Rainton.
Another powerful Sussex woman top-spinner, Sally Weston, will be appearing for the Horsham team that will be captained by Graham Carter. Also in the side are Simon Pink, who created havoc in division 1 of the Crawley and Horsham league last season.
Horsham's third team, playing at Ashford (Middlesex), will be led by Graham Faulkner from the Copthorne club. That team will also include prominent Worthing player Terry Dean.
