Are there opening and closing times for churches?
A few weeks ago, I attended a christening in a Hove church. The little girl was three so wore a long, white dress and diamante cross. She looked lovely and behaved perfectly.
It was a lovely service and, at the end, we started to get ready to go and strolled up the aisle. A couple of us were looking for a collection box to put some money in.
All of a sudden, the verger came bustling up behind us saying: "Come on, I want my dinner, even if you don't."
He ushered us all through the door and shut it so quickly he scraped my heels.
What happened to the "Come and pray if you are troubled or in grief" we used to see on the church boards?
