I would suggest Councillor Elgood read his own party's press releases and manifesto which call for integrated transport policies and for the Government to fulfil its commitments to get more people to leave their cars at home before attacking the £2 charge to drive into Brighton and Hove.
Doubtless he will get two cheers from the road lobby and the Chamber of Commerce but he should examine his conscience regarding the levels of asthma in children and why his party is all too happy to spout idealistic rhetoric about the environment yet, as soon as elected, would oppose the slightest attempt to curb traffic pollution just to curry favour with a vested interest.
It may well be "the freedom to drive" at stake here but the freedom to breathe is more important.
