The battle to stay in the East Sussex League will go down to the last game as Heathfield Park and Ditchling play each other to avoid the remaining relegation spot.

Ditchling, currently in the bottom two, finish against already relegated Wadhurst. However, they will be wary of a Wadhurst side who claimed their first win of the season against Heathfield on Saturday.

Scott Pearce (67) and Steve Oakes (51) put on 116 for the fourth wicket to help Heathfield post 223-9 but it was not enough as Wadhurst passed that total with six wickets to spare.

Skipper James Harwood (5-73) had been Wadhurst's bowling hero, then Graham Dean (77 not out) and Dick Holland (58 not out) kept their nerve to steer the hosts to victory.

Ditchling had the better of a draw with Newick, who, nevertheless, look to have done enough to stay up. John Atkinson (104) and Chris Atkinson (49 not out) helped Ditchling amass 230-6. Newick adopted a safety-first attitude in reply and batted out a draw at 136-7, Tiger Jadeja scoring 34 not out.

Chiddingly and Ringmer are battling it out for third place in the table. Chiddingly currently have the edge following a three-wicket win at Glynde. The hosts were all out for 152 with Gary Baker scoring 50 as Martin Hole claimed 5-30.

Seven wickets fell in reply but Chiddingly reached their target with John Puttick scoring 33 and skipper Tom Carr 31 not out.

Murray Barnett was the star of the show as Ringmer won with two balls to spare against DPB (Eastbourne). Barnett claimed six wickets as DPB were bowled out for 186 and he then scored 53 as Ringmer clinched a six-wicket win. Stuart McConachie added support with 39 not out while for DPB, Terry Penfold (76) and Greg Osborne (49) had been among the runs.

The race for the division two title will go to the last game. The top two clashed on Saturday and a draw has left Seaford nine points clear of Herstmonceux with one to play.

Chris Stanyard (43) and skipper Clive Chipper (41 not out) helped Seaford post a total of 212-7, with Dale Mayhew (3-38) being the pick of the Herstmonceux bowling. David White hit 41 in reply and John Stevens 40 not out but the visitors never really got going and closed on 153-6, Paul Mason taking 3-38.

The top two are already promoted but three teams remain in contention for the two relegation spots.

All three lost on Saturday but Barcombe's 16-point haul against Iden leaves them looking most likely to avoid the drop at the expense of Rye and Pevensey.

Joe Wheatley hit 61 as Barcombe took maximum batting posts at 216 all out. Iden overhauled that total with four wickets to spare.

Ali Barnett hit 60 for Rye but they were dismissed for 194 in reply to Battle's 217-7. For the winners, Tom Chaplin (59 not out and 4-55) and Ollie West (42 and 3-52) stood out with bat and ball.

Paul Elliott hit 59 as Pevensey posted 172-9 but Rottingdean overhauled that total with six wickets to spare thanks to 52 from Tom Burton.

Andy Wood hit his maiden century for Hellingly, scoring 103 not out in a total of 210-6 against St Peters. In reply, Simon Coomber smashed 74 not out in 53 balls but St Peters had to settle for a draw at 191-7, Dave Pye taking 6-88.

Division three: Pett 153 (Jim Cyster 5-32) lost to Buxted Park 154-4 (Neil Emery 80no); Rotherfield conceded to Glynde II; Polegate and Stone Cross 221-4 (Dave Pollard 77no) beat Beaulieu 217-6 (Dave Collins 82, Neil Blackford 42); Newhaven 98 (Gareth Hayes 4-16, Ben Gaine 4-21) lost to Uckfield Anderida 99-1 (Gaine 54no); Tunbridge Wells Borderers 36 (Mark Jordan 6-10) lost to Lewes St Michael's 37-2.

Division four: Crowhurst Park II 138 lost to Hailsham 139-4; Dicker Butterfly 79 (Mark Wisden 5-28, Steve Lucent 4-30) lost to Little Common Ramblers 81-2; Battle II 144-4 (Joe Carthew 45) drew with Robertsbridge 221-6 (Tom Root 87, Mark Steadman 51no); Ditchling II 73-3 beat Maresfield 72 (Tim McMinn 4-14); Willingdon 154-5 (Mark Shimmons 71no) beat Ringmer II 151 (Dave Peacock 56, Mark Shimmons 4-26, Nick Thompson 4-55).
