It was hair today gone tomorrow for Tracey Coglan as she had her elbow-length blonde hair cut off to help a school.
The mother-of-two sacrificed her locks to help raise cash for St Joseph's Primary School in Haywards Heath.
The school is in desperate need of new classroom facilities for its four to seven-year-olds.
Tracey, whose daughter Roisin is in the reception class and son Connor attends the pre-school, decided on the drastic action to raise £1,500, which was divided between the school and Clic, the charity for Cancer and Leukaemia in Children.
She said: "I really wanted to do something to help.
"The classroom facilities were supposed to be temporary 20 years ago.
"It's only hair after all. I was just happy to help the school and I was actually surprised at how much I loved the new look.
"My children think it looks great too and I have developed a taste for buying hats and scarves."
Developer Crest Nicholson Residential, which is building at Bolnore Village, near Haywards Heath, donated £250 to Tracey's cause.
