Thousands of mods and rockers will descend on Brighton but there will be no Sixties-style punch-ups.
More than 30,000 people are expected to arrive by motorbike and scooter in the annual Brighton Burn Up, starting from the legendary bikers' haunt the Ace Cafe, north London.
Organiser Mark Wilsmore said: "It is one of the biggest gatherings of mods and rockers.
"I expect there will be more than in 1964 and they will all get along with each other. They all have teas, coffees and ice creams and want to borrow each other's tool kits."
The Brighton Burn Up is thought to be the biggest free motorcycle event in Europe.
Bikers from Germany, The Netherlands and Belgium make the trip to London for the weekend of festivities, culminating in the ride to Brighton.
The mods and rockers will head for Madeira Drive on September 15, where there will be rock 'n' roll bands and DJs.
