Neil Hider has resigned as manager of division one Littlehampton Town with chairman and former boss Andy Taylor taking over team affairs until a replacement can be found.

The former Bognor assistant manager took over the reins from Taylor in the summer but the Marigolds have had a disappointing start to the campaign, picking up just one point so far.

Taylor said: "There is no animosity between the club and Neil.

"Neil is disappointed he has been unable to bring in more local players to the club and the players he wanted to bring in from outside the area were out of our reach financially.

"He knew there was not the money available when he took the job but thought he would be able to attract more players than he has been able to. He thinks it is better to make the decision now rather than struggle on to Christmas."

Littlehampton also face a battle to keep hold of one of their talented youngsters Shaheen Sadough who is the target of Dr Martens League premier division Crawley Town.

Taylor admitted: "This has all come at the wrong time and we are back to square one. We have not spoken to Shaheen to find out what he is doing.

"I am already in talks with a couple of people about taking over the manager's job and hopefully there will be a decision by next week."
