Albion youth goalkeeper Alex Bryant has suffered a freak injury - tripping on a kerb.
He is struggling to be fit to face QPR in the Youth Alliance Cup at Sussex University on Saturday (11am).
Albion youth manager Dean Wilkins said: "Alex has been unlucky and jarred his knee on a kerb in the street. It's one of those freak things that can happen.
"I'm not sure whether he will recover in time for the Cup match. I've got Chris May standing by.
"It's frustrating for him after all the hard work put in pre-season to be fit.
"We've had a few other unfortunate injuries that have been beyond our control. Nicky Bridle got a kick on the ankle and Ben Watson a knock."
Albion boss Martin Hinshelwood is on crutches with a ruptured Achilles after a training accident recently.
Bryant is not the only goalkeeper to suffer an unsual injury.
Dave Beasant injured himself by dropping a jar of salad cream on his foot when he played for Chelsea.
Daniel Harding has recovered from a back injury sustained in training and will be available for the QPR tie.
