Coastguards rescued a man who fell 50ft down the cliffs at Seaford Head.
The Newhaven cliff rescue team were called out at 9pm yesterday to save the man, who had broken both his legs and several ribs, from a ledge.
Station officer Trevor Cutler said the rescue had been made difficult by bad weather.
The man was taken to the Eastbourne District General Hospital.
