The race for the County League Division One title was thrown wide open as the top five teams all lost.
Sixth placed Whitehawk beat East Preston, who started the day in third spot.
Tommy Pattenden (two) and Craig Bunch fired Hawks into a 3-0 lead by the 70th minute but the visitors rallied with goals from Matt Huckett and Sean Duffy.
Hawks boss Ian Chapman said: "We did tremendously for 70 minutes but then we ran out of steam."
Second placed Horsham YMCA went down 3-2 away to local rivals Three Bridges.
Mark Francis fired YM into an 11th minute lead but Pat Massaro scored twice, taking his tally to 25 for the campaign, to put Bridges 2-1 ahead by the hour mark. Jamie Edwards added a third but the visitors rallied with Paul Young making it 3-2.
Bridges boss Micky Taylor: "That was a big tonic for us. It is all right beating the lesser sides but it is a huge boost to beat one of the big teams."
Wick manager Richie Reynolds was delighted as his struggling side grabbed a 3-2 victory over fourth-placed Southwick.
Goals from Dave Schneider (two) and a Mark Price penalty gave Wick three valuable points after they had led 2-0 at the break. Graham Martin and Ben Milford struck for the visitors in a second-half fightback.
Reynolds said: 'We are working very hard to turn things round here. It was only a matter of time before we got this result and now hopefully we can go on to better things."
Fifth placed Pagham lost 2-0 at fast improving Redhill thanks to first half goals from youngster Andrew Graves and Danny Stanton.
Redhill boss Ian Dawes said: "We had to dig in and battle but we also played some good football at times."
