Petworth-based Sofa Workshop has been bought by furniture giant MFI in a £12.3 million deal.
Chief executive John Hancock said: "Upholstery is a £2.6 billion market and Sofa Workshop will allow us to accelerate our roll-out into this market segment.
"Sofa Workshop is known for its quality and design and fits well with our strategy of offering customers furniture for the whole home."
MFI has been trialling Sofa Workshop products in eight of its 192 out-of-town UK stores and said these had accounted for seven per cent of sales in the shops.
