A man who is due to take a vow of silence has appeared in court charged with causing a breach of the peace.
Guy Sinclair, 51, of Blaker Street, Brighton, denies committing the offence at his home last month.
Jim Warren, defending, said his client was going to a monastery next month for four months and would be taking a vow of silence.
He asked Brighton magistrates for the hearing to be arranged quickly so he need not change his plans.
The date was fixed for November 21.
