RW Carden - or was it Sir Christopher Wren? - (Letters, October 30) wants anything "reasonable" to get the station site redevelopment going.
Yes, but what is "reasonable"?
A plan which will undoubtedly add to the already gridlocked traffic and bring extra pollution? How can a new supermarket with a car park not?
A plan which is bound to affect the user-friendly London Road adversely and perhaps kill the pleasures of shopping in the Open Market?
A plan with too little affordable housing and open spaces and with concrete monstrosities as the view from the station, rather than the amazing St Bart's?
People live in and visit Brighton for its charm and interest. What an opportunity for a plan to lift the spirits and have imagination and thought.
A national or even international competition would put Brighton on the map as indeed a "place to be" and visit. Let's get going now.
