Daniel Webb could be rejoining Albion on a month's loan from Third Division Southend.
The teenage target man scored once in 12 League appearances for the Seagulls last season after Peter Taylor signed him on loan from the Shrimpers in December.
Albion abandoned plans to make Webb's move permanent for a £25,000 fee once Taylor quit, but boss Steve Coppell is considering having him back.
He said: "It's a possibility, but nothing has been decided yet."
Webb, 19, has been out-of-favour since returning to Southend. He is on week-to-week terms after turning down a new one-year contract.
He recently had trials with Peterborough and Gillingham and scored the winner for Southend's reserves in a 2-1 victory at Millwall on Tuesday.
Manager Rob Newman said: "I think it is in Daniel's best interests to get away from Roots Hall and this is a great opportunity.
"He has been trying to get himself fixed up elsewhere. A loan switch to Brighton with a chance to prove himself in the First Division is an excellent move for him.
"He spent half of last season on loan at Withdean and made noises about being happy there. Now it's up to Daniel if he would like to give things another go with Brighton."
