This weekend, an estimated 45 million people nationwide will remember, in their own way, those who died in the last century's conflicts.
Remembrance services taking place in Sussex include:
BOGNOR: A march from the Royal British Legion headquarters in Clifton Road at 10.30am for a remembrance service at 10.50am at the war memorial in Gloucester Road.
BRIGHTON: Service at the war memorial in Old Steine at 10.45am. A two-minute silence will be held at the Peace Statue in Kingsway at 11am.
CHICHESTER: Act of remembrance at the Cathedral at 11am on Monday.
CLAYTON: Service at St John the Baptist Church, Clayton, at 11am. There will be a two-minute silence.
A parade from the Royal British Legion Club in Woodsland Road at 2pm to the United Reformed Church, Keymer Road, for a 2.30pm service. The parade will then march to the Keymer memorial at St Cosmas and St Damian's Church for a wreath laying.
EASTBOURNE: Service at the war memorial in Cornfield Road from 11am. A service at Ruth Less, Butts Brow, at 2.45pm. A festival of remembrance at the Congress Theatre, Carlisle Road, 7.30pm.
EAST GRINSTEAD: Parade arrives at High Street war memorial at 10.50am from St Swithun's Church in Church Lane.
HASTINGS: Act of remembrance at the war memorial in Alexandra Park from 11am. A festival of remembrance at the White Rock Theatre from 7pm.
HORSHAM: Wreath laying at Carfax War Memorial at 10.45am before moving on to St Mary's Church for a service.
HOVE: A parade from the town hall at 2.15pm, walking to the war memorial in Grand Avenue for a wreath-laying ceremony. Service of remembrance at All Saints Church from 3pm.
A service of remembrance by the Brighton and Hove Branch of the Association of Jewish Ex-servicemen and Women at Holland Synagogue, Holland Road, from 4.25pm.
LANCING AND SOMPTING: A wreath-laying service at 2.45pm followed by a service of remembrance at St Michael's Church.
LEWES: A parade to the war memorial in High Street will be followed by a service at 2.30pm. There will then be a service at St John sub Castro Church in Lancaster Street. There will be a two-minute silence at the war memorial at 11am on Monday.
LITTLEHAMPTON: Two-minute silence at 11am on Monday at the war memorial, Beach Road.
NEWHAVEN: Service at St Michael's Church at 10am followed by a parade to the war memorial in South Road. The Royal National Lifeboat Institution will lay a wreath in the sea in honour of all those lost at sea at 11am. A second wreath will be laid in the water in honour of the crews of Royal Air Force air sea rescue units.
OFFHAM: Service at 10.30am at St Peter's Church.
PORTSLADE: A parade from Portslade Town Hall car park in Victoria Road from 10.20am. Service at Easthill Park from 10.50am.
ROTTINGDEAN: Service at the war memorial, Rottingdean Green, at noon.
SHOREHAM: A parade will leave Shoreham Community Centre in Pond Road at 10.45am for a service at St Mary's Church.
SOUTHWICK GREEN: Service at the the war memorial at 10.45am.
WARTLING: Service at Wartling Parish Church at 10.30am.
WORTHING: The Combined Ex-Servicemen's Association (CESA) is staging a remembrance ceremony at Broadwater Cemetery in South Farm Road from 10.45am today.
Events are on Sunday November 11 unless otherwise indicated.
