Heavy rain which hit Sussex today is forecast to continue throughout the week.
The Argus weatherman Ken Woodhams said the heavy rain would fall all afternoon.
The downpour arrived over the Downs from early this morning, heading for the coast.
Lucy Verasamy, of PA WeatherCentre, said the downpours were likely to continue.
She said: "We've had some pretty heavy bursts this morning particularly in London between 6am and 8am. There's been a lot of rain in southern England.
"There will be a slight respite this evening, but tomorrow there will be more heavy rain in Kent, Surrey and Sussex.
"It looks pretty wet and miserable. There's not going to be a real let-up in the South-East."
The Environment Agency said there were no flood warnings in operation in Sussex today but its experts were carefully monitoring rainfall.
She said: "We are keeping a watch on it because the rain has continued today and we were expecting some more into the afternoon. The rain is not expected to let up until well into Thursday."
