Planners have given the green light to convert a pub into two houses.
Members of Arun District Council's development control committee gave the plan the go-ahead to convert The Fox pub in Arundel Road, Patching, after hearing the application was for change of use only and no external changes to the building were proposed.
The meeting was told Angmering Parish Council had withdrawn its earlier objection to the plan, A report to councillors said the building was ideally suited to residential use.
It went on to say: "The Fox is a substantial building in a prominent location on the old A27.
"Whilst not obviously of particular architectural or aesthetic merit, it is not an unattractive building and its retention would not constitute the perpetuation of an eyesore.
"Although the proposal would result in the loss of a visitor and community facility there is another public house a few hundred yards to the east.
"Accordingly, anyone wishing to avail themselves of the facilities will still be able to do so."
The plans also included the erection of a garage in the same style, size and materials to match an existing garage.
