Worthing Hospital is expanding to cater for more patients and medical staff.
Administrative staff have been moved from the hospital's site in Lyndhurst Road to the adjoining Homefield building, which formerly treated people with mental illnesses. The space vacated in the main hospital will be converted into two wards, providing about 40 extra beds.
Work will begin on building revamped kitchens early next year.
Not only will the 1,300 meals a day be hotter but patients will be able to choose what they want when the trolleys arrive on the ward.
