In reply to D A Coles' letter regarding the lack of people wearing poppies on Remembrance Sunday, I agree it is the one day of the year when we should reflect upon the sacrifices made by many and more could be done to make the younger people aware of this.
I must take issue, though, with his point regarding the fact that newcomers somehow feel excluded from this ceremony.
Firstly, I have never heard anyone making this point and, secondly, many Commonwealth troops fought in both world wars in defence of Europe.
So, please, do not use Remembrance Day as a way of making a cheap point about our multicultural society.
