Councillor Jackie Lythell defends the expenditure on the Capital of Culture bid.
She quotes comparative figures for the schools and "social care".
That's great - but I would still like to see what our councillors have to say about the lack of youth services, especially in view of the recent shocking figures that make Brighton and Hove the drug-death capital of Britain.
The answer to this is not just more policing. We need much more positive action to welcome youngsters as citizens of an exciting city in the 21st Century.
We also need much more help for young people struggling to cope in a town-turned-city where the level of opportunity for completely screwing your life up has rocketed in recent years.
