College students were given a royal talking to by Prince Charles at an exhibition.
The Prince of Wales unexpectedly dropped by a stall manned by four students from Hastings College yesterday as part of a vocational skills exhibition and competition held in Manchester.
The event is sponsored by the Prince's Trust and the Prince was taking part in a general tour.
Luke Mitchell, a spokesman for the college, said the Prince stopped to talk to HND students Sarah Hardy, 20, and Stewart McConnel, 19.
Sarah, who studies engineering, showed the Prince a vacuum machine she had made as part of a competition to design a water pump for use in the developing world.
Mr Mitchell said: "There are only four colleges here and one is from The Netherlands so it shows the standard of the competition.
"The students weren't really awe-struck but they were really happy he stopped to talk to them."
