AT a two-day gathering in Birmingham of government ministers and area council officers (The Argus, November 4), the case was put for the pressing needs of cultural regeneration of Brighton and Hove.
Black Rock was mentioned. However, can we be encouraged that the rhetoric has hit the right target? Locally, citizens are waiting for actions to speak louder than words.
Specifically, the marketing of Black Rock is becoming a national interest showcase of Brighton and Hove City Council's performance on developments.
The ice skating fraternity headed by Keep Sussex Skating (KSS) has targeted Black Rock for a new, full-sized ice arena to serve the waiting community. KSS has been campaigning since the Nineties for Black Rock, resulting in the major ice initiative that is waiting in the wings. The KSS appeal is to keep Black Rock the leading priority for 2003 as the cutting-edge year that positive development planning is granted for our new ice arena on the Brighton seafront.
